Constellation 3: Extra/Ordinary Cities: The Cultural Dynamics of Urban Intervention
Venue: Bach Dang Restaurant, Canley Vale
Extra/Ordinary Cities is a dynamic forum examining the relationship between art, politics and the built environment in Asia and Australia.
Traveling from Sydney’s eastern suburbs to the city's southwest, this day-long event centered at the Bach Dang Vietnamese Restaurant in Canley Vale/Cabramatta brings together leading international artists from the 2008 Biennale of Sydney and the Concrete Culture exhibition plus architects and writers for a series of presentations and discussion panels. The day will culminate with a reception at the Concrete Culture exhibition at the Ivan Dougherty Gallery. The forum explores complex crossings, transformations and challenges in relation to urban landscapes and a series of urban interventions by artists.
Bookings are essential. The forum cover charge will be $25.00, which includes lunch, tea & coffee at the Bach Dang Restaurant. For those making their own way to this event, the forum begins at 10:30am at the Bach Dang Restaurant, with closing drinks/viewing of Concrete Culture at Ivan Dougherty Gallery at 5:45pm.
There will also be a limited number of 60 tickets on offer that include a transfer by bus & additional on-board events. The bus trip will involve an extra transport cost of $10, bringing the total cost to $35.00. The bus leaves at 9.20 from the Ivan Dougherty Gallery and 9.30am from the Biennale of Sydney office at Woolloomooloo, and returns for drinks at 5.45pm.
Bookings will be available closer to the event.
